Background of the project
The idea to redesign came after using the app on a friend's phone for a transaction, and as a designer, I started seeing different irregularities and inconsistencies in the design and flow and some design principles flaws, so I decided to create something more consistent, usable, and aesthetically delightful.
“I took it upon myself to create something more consistent, usable, and aesthetically delightful.”

Design Approach
- Empathize: I tried to understand some of the issues I had when I was using the existing app, and how it affects other users, For example, inconsistencies in, say, corner radius, basically put me off any interface I’m interacting with and distract me from my aim on the app, so users want consistency and a flow that is smooth and direct so they can easily perform their needed transactions. Also, some principles and guidelines that were not followed definitely dispute the solution those principles offer and the whole idea of making the user experience seamless and delightful.
- Ideate: Come up with a solution in terms of features, some flows for a few users (e.g., send money locally, buy airtime, make an online payment), and layouts and structures. So, I went ahead to check up on a few things onebank’s competitors who have great UI do better and why, then asked a few of my close guys (they are consistent users of bank mobile apps) what they thought about the idea, and some of them had a lot to say, so I jotted all this down.
- Prototype: come up with a sketch, low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes, and an interactive prototype, What I did was, take every piece of data I had to come up with a sketch, low-fidelity wireframes, and then high-fidelity wireframes while consulting my friends every step of the way and making sure they were all in sync with the principles and guidelines governing usable designs.
I also did interactive prototyping to show the smooth flow and navigation of the design.
